Beekeeping Development Programme in Maharashtra

The Board will strengthen beekeeping under the Western Ghats Development Programme

Pune, July 21, 2009 (source: MITCON Consultancy Services Ltd., Pune Tender Document, July 2009): It is understood from the tender document issued by the MITCON Consultancy Services Ltd., Pune in July 2009 that the Maharashtra State Khadi and Village Industries Board is providing beekeepers in the State assistance in the form of supply of beekeeping equipment and bee colonies in order that they strengthen and develop their beekeeping enterprise.

In this project, the Board will strengthen beekeeping under the Western Ghats Development Programme in 11 districts, Marathwada Development Programme in 8 districts and under the Naxalite Area Development Programme in six districts. The consultancy agency has called for tender bids for supply of beekeeping equipment and Apis mellifera bee colonies as well as delivery of the materials in different locations of the State.

The bids are for supply of 3750 Apis mellifera bee colonies along with bee boxes and stands, 1050 numbers of 8-frame ISI A-type bee boxes along with stands, 78 Apis mellifera type honey extractors and 45 Apis cerana type honey extractors as well as 18,750 antwells.
